The Lahore High Court (LHC) here on Tuesday called for the appearance of Secretary Auqaf on February 7 next in a petition filed by a contractor at the Shrine of Hazrat Baba Farid Ganj Shakar, Pakpattan Sharif. The petition has been filed by Syed Sajid Hussain through Manzoor Ali Gilani advocate submitting that petitioner has suffered a huge loss on account of closure of four out of five main entry gates of the Shrine.
The petitioner says he was awarded shoes-safety contract against the payment of Rs 52.10 lakh, which he had to recover collecting shoes safety fees at five main gates of the shrine. He said owing to recent incident of terrorism at the Shrine, the authorities concerned have closed down four gates of the Shrine whereof his collection of fees (income) has drastically come down. He prayed to the court for a direction to the authorities to either re-open rest of the gates or pay him back the money received for the contract of the closed down gates. Following court orders Administrator concerned appeared before the court and said, the matter did not fall in his jurisdiction. The court therefore, called for the appearance of Secretary Auqaf on February 7 next.
