The Central Shura of the Jamaat-e-Islami has termed the present government as the worst government in the country's history. An objective study of the Zardari-Gilani three years' rule indicates that the present government is the biggest failure in Pakistan's history as has completely failed on domestic, foreign as well as economic fronts due to which the masses were facing countless hardships and worries, says a resolution adopted by the Shura during its session here.
"The independence, sovereignty, honour and dignity of the country and the nation were in danger and the general public was disappointed and perturbed, and any eruption could destroy the whole system any moment", the Shura warned. However, it categorically stated that any unconstitutional and undemocratic move would not be acceptable as it would only add to the worries of the country and the nation, adding that the constitution as at present provided solution to every situation.
Continuing, the resolution said, "It is crystal clear by now that the PPP leadership came into power after a secret deal with Pervez Musharraf, the US and Britain and its sole concern was to absolve itself of its past political and financial crimes and to advance the US agenda". Accordingly, the country had been reduced into a US colony and the poor Pakistani nation had suffered to the tune of trillions at the hands of the US and international financial institutions, it said.
The Shura noted that the Parliament's unanimous resolution of October 22, 2008 calling for adopting an independent foreign policy and getting out the war by finding a political solution instead of a military one, had been completely ignored with the result that the US was now openly pressing for a big military operation in North Waziristan.
The government's blatant violations of the Supreme Court's most important judgments and directives was giving an impression of ridiculing the judiciary and a clash between the judiciary and the administration. The Supreme Court decisions on the NRO and its recent directives to the Law Ministry were being rendered ineffective. All the steps taken by the courts to protect human rights, for elimination of corruption, to check violations of rules and the procedure and ensure appointments on merit, were being rendered ineffective by the government and the Presidency, the resolution said.
The Shura said that the country had been reduced to a hanger-on state of the US and the things had reached the stage where Washington was pressing Islamabad for imposition of the RGST and was furious over the cancellation of the recent raise in the POL prices.
The government's attitude towards India was totally against national interests and dignity as the core issues of Kashmir and river water were being ignored under the cover of trade and confidence building although Pak-India ties could not improve unless these two issues were resolved. The government's policy in regard to India's involvement in Balochistan and Fatter was also weak and contrary to the dictates of Pakistan's strategic interests in these areas, it said.
