The Lahore Businessmen Association for Rehabilitation of the Disabled (LABARD) on Tuesday provided medical assistance to more than 108 disabled persons at a medical camp established here at the LABARD office.
A team of doctors carried out a detailed check-up of the disabled persons. Needy persons would be provided artificial limbs, hearing instruments, wheel chairs, tricycles and employment etc. These disables were registered at the 3-day LABARD camp held at Ghaziabad a couple of days ago.
The LCCI president Shahzad Ali Malik inaugurated the LABARD Camp while Naghmana Javed and other Governing Body Members of LABARD were present on the occasion. The medical camp was a part of LABARD services, which are being provided to the ailing disabled persons without any cost. LABARD is also providing cost-free education, skill training employment and "Qarz-e-Hasna". Thousands of disabled persons have been benefited from the LABARD services.
The LABARD is bearing all expenses while its governing body members are providing the required funds. The LABARD is also organising camps in different parts of city since long to create awareness about their rights so that more and more disabled persons could be benefited from the services being offered by the LABARD.
Speaking on the occasion, the LCCI President Shahzad Ali Malik said that the LABARD was doing a marvellous work by providing training and job placements to the disabled persons and it is duty of all the segments of the society to play their role for this noble cause. He said that LABARD was the only organisation that is working without any foreign help. He said efforts being done by the LABARD office-bearers have started yielding positive results.
Meanwhile, on the occasion of medical camp, the LABARD governing body member Naghmana Javed said that LABARD members are working without any personal interest. They said rehabilitation of disabled is a big challenge, but it can be fulfilled if all play their due role.
