Federal Minister for Environment, Hameed Ullah Jan Afridi has said Prime Minister Gilani has approved an amount of Rs 20 million for various development schemes to be initiated in FATA. He stated this while talking to various delegations of people belonging to FATA who met with him on Wednesday in connection with problems of their concerned areas.
The minister said that efforts were being made to overcome the scarcity of clean drinking water in tribal areas and according to the aspirations of local people, large number of schemes pertaining to digging of wells, installation of tube wells, and hand pumps has been approved, which would be completed during the current fiscal year.
The minister said that Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has given special grant for resolving the problems being faced by the tribesmen and as compared to the previous financial year, adequate funds had been earmarked to provide maximum facilities to the residents of FATA. Afridi asked tribesmen to work for the betterment of the country and foil the evil designs of such elements who are indulged in nefarious activities.-PR
