Quetta police launched another operation against drug addicts, peddlers in Habib Nullah and detained five teenaged addicts during the raid on Wednesday.
DIG operations Hamid Shakeel led the raiding party and demolished the structures built in the seasonal Nullah lining near Governor and Chief Minister Houses, Civil Secretariat and Quetta Cant.
Earlier, on the directives of Inspector General Police Balochistan Malik Muhammad Iqbal, the police arrested some 400 such addicts and drug peddlers during an operation carried out in Habib Nullah on Sunday.
Talking to APP, the DIG operations said that police is committed to clean the city from drug addicts, adding "we don" have enough accommodations and resources to keep the drug addicts in police stations.
He noted that 260 such detainees had been handed over to different NGOs working against the curse of narcotics, however 140 were still lying in deplorable condition in various police stations and they need immediate attention of NGOs and other humanitarian organisations for their rehabilitation, he stressed.
