Balochistan Assembly expressed concern over worsening law and order situation in Karachi and Balochistan. The assembly met with Speaker Muhammad Aslam Bhootani in chair here on Thursday. PML-Q MPA Jaffar Khan Mandokhail tabled the adjournment motion demanding arrest of the killers of journalist Wali Khan Babar.
Taking part in the debate on the motion, Balochistan Minister for Local Government Zamarak Khan said Balochs, Pashtoons and settlers were being targeted in Balochistan. He said law and order situation was deteriorating in Karachi by some ethnic groups. He demanded military operation in Karachi to end lawlessness, extortion and gang war.
Pakistan Peoples Party MPA, Mir Nasir Jamali alleged that no attention was being paid to address legitimate grievances of Baloch people adding such negligence had been damaging efforts seeking peace in the province. He said the Sindh government was not repairing banks of Keerther Canal within its jurisdiction, which had put bread winning means of over 700,000 households of Nasirabad and Jaffarabad districts at stake.
PPP MPA Haji Ali Madad Jatak expressed his concern over abduction of minority community members for ransom. Labour Minister, Maulvi Sarwar Musakhail lamented that robberies were on rise on Loralai-DG Khan highway. He said law enforcing agencies of four districts through them the highway passing had been spending millions of rupees in the name of maintaining law and order but vain. He said at least 12 people had been killed by miscreants on the highway during past months. Minister for Communication and Works and PPP leader, Mir Sadiq Umrani held the Musharraf government policies responsible for current law and order situation in Balochistan.
