Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry on Thursday said legal fraternity's contribution to judiciary is commendable, which must be maintained to further strengthen this institution. Talking to a 20-member delegation of Islamabad Bar Association (IBA) headed by its newly elected president Haroon-ur-Rashid, Justice Chaudhry said that without lawyers' cooperation and support, judiciary could not be built up and they should use their representation for the betterment of the society.
Appreciating the role of IBA, during movement for rule of law, supremacy of constitution and independence of judiciary, the chief justice said that the bar played an effective and courageous role during the movement. Its efforts, he added, proved fruitful and they achieved the objective in shape of newly restored independent judiciary. The members discussed issues and matters of interest of the legal/judicial fraternity with the chief justice. They informed him about Islamabad High Court (IHC) and district court.
They further informed his lordship that they would soon take over the possession of land for construction of Islamabad High Court where Judicial Complex and Hospital would also be constructed.
The delegation expressed hope that the administration of justice needs his lordship's leadership and motivation to deliver justice to the public at large. They further praised his CJP's steadfastness, devotion, commitment, determination and efforts for the cause of justice and said that the public has reposed great confidence in the judiciary. The delegation presented bouquet of flowers to the chief justice as a token of love and respect and paid tributes to him for his untiring efforts for the constitutionalism, rule of law and independence of judiciary and invited to visit IBA.
