Wapda won 7th National Ju Jitsu Championship by securing 77 points, while police remained runners-up with 39 points followed by Punjab for the third slot with 26 points.
The 3-day championship was held here at Wapda Sports Complex under the aegis of Wapda Sports Board. As many as 10 teams tested their muscles in 17 events during the championship. These teams include Wapda, Police, Punjab, Sindh, Pakistan Air Force, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Special Education, FATA, Balochistan and Islamabad. Wapda topped the medals tally with 11 golds, 5 silvers and 1 bronze followed by Police with 3 golds, 4 silvers and 6 bronze and Punjab with 1 gold, 3 silver and 6 bronze.
Pakistan Olympic Association President Lieutenant General Syed Arif Hassan (Retd) was the chief guest of the closing ceremony, who gave away trophies and medals to the winning teams and the players.
Wapda Sports Board President Naveed Akram Cheema and Pakistan Ju-Jitsu Federation President Khalil Ahmed Khan were also present in the ceremony.
Speaking on the occasion, Lieutenant General Syed Arif Hassan (Retd) lauded Wapda Sports Board and Pakistan Ju-Jitsu Federation for making excellent arrangements for the championship. He said that the sports talent in Pakistan could be further groomed by developing appropriate sports infrastructure and providing the players with proper facilities.
