A petition seeking court directions to hand over Karachi to armed forces was filed before the Supreme Court here at Lahore registry. The petition filed by a citizen Rana Ilmuddin submitted that it has become necessary to call in the armed forces in aid of civil authorities in Karachi to ensure security of innocent citizens and to flush out criminals.
The petition further requested that armed forces should be called in for a period of three months to restore law and order and re-establish peace in the city. Earlier a petition filed by advocate M Tariq Asad, requested the court to direct the government to impose a state of emergency in Karachi and eliminate criminals with assistance from the armed forces.
