Pakistan Industrial and Traders Associations Front (PIAF) has urged the Prime Minister to out rightly reject any proposal of increase in petroleum prices as it would jack-up inflation to an unprecedented level. PIAF Chairman Sohail Lashari, in a statement on Friday, said that it would be an anti-industry and anti-people decision if government accepts any proposal of Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) to increase prices of petroleum products.
He said that the PM would have to prove that democratic governments do not give any credence to the decisions made by the bureaucracy and remain active for the wellbeing of masses. Lashari observed that both trade and industry are already in dire straits owing to multiple internal and external challenges and if the prices of petroleum products are increased, government would not be able to achieve its economic targets in year 2011.
