Ambassador of Switzerland in Pakistan, Christoph Bubb called on Punjab Chief Minister, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, here on Friday. Matters of mutual interest and co-operation in various sectors were discussed during the meeting.
Talking to the ambassador, the chief minister said that Switzerland is a friendly country and relations between the two countries are strengthening with the passage of time. He said that people of Pakistan are grateful to Switzerland for co-operation in development of various sectors.
Talking about the progress of the province and provision of basic amenities to the people, Shahbaz said that law and order, provision of health and educational facilities are top priorities of the government and solid measures have been taken in this regard.
He said that besides setting up IT labs and Punjab Educational Endowment Fund in education sector, Danish schools were established for providing quality educational facilities to the poorest boy and girl students of backward areas. He hoped that setting up of the schools will not only result in equipping students of far-flung areas with modern knowledge, but new vistas would also open for the development of these areas. He further said mobile health units were provided for provision of quality medical facilities to the people of remote areas at their doorstep and a large number of people are benefiting from these.
The CM said that Punjab is rich in natural resources and there are vast opportunities of investment in various sectors. He said that Punjab Investment Board was set up for promotion of investment and encouragement of investors in the province. The board is providing facilities for investment in livestock, agriculture, education, health, energy and other sectors, he added. He assured that transparency, good governance and merit are top priorities of the government and transparent utilisation of funds is being ensured in all development projects, while third-party audit system in all major projects has been made mandatory.
