The Jamaat-i-Islami chief, Syed Munawar Hasan, has announced that every attempt by the federal or the provincial government to protect the US citizen involved in the killing of three Pakistanis would be foiled.
He also declared that if the four culprits hiding in the US Consulate and the vehicle involved in the death of young man Ibadur Rahman were not taken in custody within next four days, the JI would stage a big demonstration on the Mall with the members of the bereaved families.
He said this while talking to the media after visiting the houses of the three youth killed by the US national and his supporters to express his sympathies with them. A number of senior JI leaders accompanied with him. The JI chief also stressed upon the Punjab Chief Minister not to join the federal government efforts for the killers' release.
He accused the Federal Interior Minister of defending the Black Water agents instead of protecting his own countrymen. He further said the JI Punjab had set up a committee comprising senior lawyers to provide legal assistance to the bereaved families. The JI chief also urged the judiciary to take notice of the incident along with the government efforts to protect the killers.
Syed Munawar Hasan condemned the US Embassy demand for the release of Raymond Davis and its terming his arrest as unlawful. He said, this was an insult to the 180 million Pakistanis. He further said even three days after the incident, the US embassy was not disclosing the killer's rank, which indicated that he was not a Consulate employee and was only a CIA or Black Water agent.
