The Supreme Court was informed on Monday that main accused in murder of former Attorney General has been arrested from Dubai, who will be brought back home soon. The court appreciating the police efforts have asked Secretary Interior Qamar Zaman Chaudhry to place the commendable efforts of DIG Operations, Islamabad Bin Yamin in his file.
A four-member bench headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry comprising Justice Muhammad Sair Ali, Justice Ghulam Rabbani and Justice Khalil-ur-Rehman Ramday disposed of the suo motu case against killing of former AGP. Secretary Ministry of Interior Qamar-uz-Zaman presented a report on behalf of the police. He informed the court that main accused Ruhullah went to Dubia via Afghanistan.
The accused travelled to Afghanistan on forged documents and from there he went to Dubai on fake passport, which was prepared by his cousin Fazal Ahmed. After his escape to Dubai the police has declared him proclaim offender and seized his property and frozen his bank account. This arrest was made on red warrants of the accused in Dubai. The secretary, while appreciating Islamabad and the Khyber Pukhtunkhawa police said that they have done commendable job.
Former Attorney General Sardar Khan was murdered on February 3, 2010 in Sector G-11/2 in Islamabad. The former president Supreme Court Bar Association Qazi Anwar in his speech on the occasion of new Judicial Year 2010-2011 while expressing concern over the killing of lawyers in the country, particularly Balochistan, had demanded the arrest of ex-AG killers. The widow of Sardar Khan has also prayed to the Supreme Court for justice.
The secretary informed the court that besides Ruhullah the Balochistan and Sindh police have also arrested lawyers' killers in their respective provinces. He said in Sindh the police have arrested killers of Sardar Zulfiqar, while the police reinvestigated killing of Raja Mohammad Riaz and Balochistan Inspector General Police himself supervising the case of Zaman Mari's killing.
Muhammad Sardar Khan, 74, a native of Peshawar, was killed in an ambush at Ibne Seena Road, Sector G-11/2, on February 3, 2010. Five persons were nominated in the murder case with Roohullah being the main accused. Ruhullah allegedly plotted the murder after Mr Khan, the counsel for his opponent, turned down his offer of money for losing the case he was fighting against Peshawar Development Authority (PDA) in the Peshawar High Court.
The 168 kanals the lawyer had been pursuing for his client in PHC was said to be worth billions of rupees and located in five areas including Hayatabad and Saddar in Peshawar. The Peshawar police in connivance with a politician had allegedly helped Ruhullah to flee from the country.
