Pakistan Customs Drug Enforcement Cell (DEC), Karachi Airport Unit recovered and seized five Kgs of contraband Hashish (Charas) from an outbound courier parcel at air export point. According to details, the Customs DEC staff having received a tip off that underground mafia involved in drug traffic had been using household goods and utensils for drug concealment intercepted an outbound courier package comprising a wooden crate.
The crate was booked by Abid Mahmood from Attock in the name of Muhammad Murad at an address in Hong Kong. Oddity of packing mode and courier goods being an 80 pieces porcelain dinner set attracted the Customs attention and detailed examination ultimately led to the recovery of five kgs of fine quality Charas (Hashish) that was artfully concealed in specially carved out cavities in four side walls of the wooden crate.
This may be added here that DEC of Pakistan Customs has so far intercepted five outbound courier packages booked for various destinations including Thailand, Cyprus, Canada, Dhaka and the present one to Hong Kong and seized a sizeable quantity of Heroin and Charas that was concealed in different articles like Text Books, Leather Jackets, Suitcase and Shoes etc. Consequent upon recovery and seizure of contraband narcotics, a prosecution case under Control of Narcotics Substances Act, 1997 has been registered and efforts are continuing to nab the person responsible for the offence.-PR
