Federal Minister for Interior Rehman Malik has dispelled the impression that the record of the visa issued to US national Raymond Davis is missing from Interior Ministry, saying that the record is safe, which could be produced before the court if asked.
The diplomats have cover under the Vienna Convention and countries are bound to respect the convention, Malik said while talking to media outside the Parliament House here on Tuesday. The Minister categorically said that courts would decide the fate of Raymond Davis and Federal and provincial governments would not hinder the court proceedings.
To another question Malik rejected the impression regarding inclusion of the Davis's name in Exit Control List, saying that he has no knowledge about putting his name on the ECL. Responding to a question about any amendment to blasphemy law, Interior Minister said, "There is no plan to make any amendment to the blasphemy law and no committee was formed in this respect," he added.
To a question about Mumbai terror attack, he lambasted India for playing delaying tactics in investigation of Mumbai terror attacks. "Pakistan is not delaying the investigation, rather India is creating hurdles for access to the judicial commission," he maintained. Referring to the tight security measures put in place in Karachi, the minister said there was a sharp decline in the cases of target killing due to the strict security measures.
