The newly appointed governor of Gilgit-Baltistan, Syed Pir Karam Ali Shah took oath of his office, here on Tuesday, in a ceremony held in the regional capital of Gilgit. The ceremony was organised in the historic Chinar Bagh of the capital.
Chief judge of the Supreme Appellate Court GB administered the oath, which was witnessed by the political leadership, chief minister GB, Syed Mehdi Shah, members of the legislative assembly, speaker of the assembly, Wazir Baig, Deputy Speaker, Jamil Ahmed and members of the cabinet. Senior judges of the high court, senior military and civil officers were also present on the occasion.
Hundreds of people including notables and workers of Pakistan Peoples Party greeted the governor after the oath-taking. Later, the governor laid floral wreath at the graves of martyrs. Talking to media on this occasion, he emphasised upon the value of peace.
