Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Information, Mian Iftikhar Hussein has said that Afghanistan is a big centre of 'Pakhtuns' and they are in favour of a peaceful Afghanistan as peaceful Afghanistan is must for Pakistan's peace.
This he stated while talking to the Acting Consul General of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Saleh Mohammad Sherzai at Peshawar. Sherzai discussed matters of mutual interest, particularly problems of Afghan refugees and Afghans visiting Pakistan with complete documents.
Expressing his views, Iftikhar assured that a centre of registration of Afghans would be set up at a suitable place to mitigate their problems. He, on the occasion, also talked to the high ups of police on the issue. He assured that Afghans are their brothers having the same religion, caste, language and traditions and they knew their problems.
He said that peace in Pakistan and Afghanistan is inter-linked and lasting peace could be ensured in both the countries only by abolishing the atmosphere of misunderstanding and mistrust. He observed that USA, Pakistan and Afghanistan are the main players in the war against terror in the region and until they develop confidence building and exchange intelligence with each other, complete elimination of terrorism is not possible.
The minister said that terrorists are terrorists and the concept of 'good or bad terrorists' could severely damage the war. It is clear that the terrorists have no religion, language or caste and they were the enemies of humanity, he maintained. He stressed that Pakistan should eliminate terrorism and terrorists from its territory with its own army and security forces while Afghan and Nato forces should root out terrorism from Afghanistan.
