A petition has been filed before the Lahore High Court seeking trial of American official Raymond Davis by a special anti-terrorism court. The petitioner, Rana Ilamudin Ghazi, contended that the accused was not a diplomat and did not enjoy any immunity and, therefore, was not entitled to any concession under the law.
He further said that extending immunity to the accused will be a violation of all international conventions. He also prayed for constitution of a judicial commission to hold inquiry into the incident of killing of three Pakistani citizens by the US consulate official. Ghazi also requested the court to issue a restraining order for the authorities not to extradite the accused Raymond Davis to US.
