The administration of Mayo Hospital is providing medical facilities to the patients free of cost and during the year 2010, medicines worth Rs 360 million were provided to more than 1.436 million patients in line with the Chief Minister's pro-patients policy.
Medical Superintendent Mayo Hospital Dr Zahid Parvez said here on Wednesday that in 2010, 408,241 patients were treated in Emergency Department; in OPD 740,622 patients were provided free treatment facilities whereas 137,867 children were treated in paeditrition department of the hospital. He further said that 31,695 major and 69,506 minor operations were conducted while free diagnostic/tests facilities were provided to 428,296 patients in OPD and 911,510 in emergency Department.
Dr Zahid said that 2,990 Dengue patients were also provided free treatment and laboratory test facilities. He said that 83,155 ECG, 54,981 ultrasound, 13,341 CT Scan, 15,740 dialysis, 721 Angiography, 3100 Eco-Cardiography, 151 ETT and 2195 Gestoscopy tests were conducted free of cost.
