The Lahore High Court here Friday disposed off a petition challenging establishment and functioning of different taskforces and co-ordinators by Punjab government after a deputy secretary told the court that all such taskforces and appointment of co-ordinators has been abolished in the wake of austerity drive.
The court was hearing the petition filed by Maqsood Abbas, who contended that Punjab government, after establishing taskforces and appointing co-ordinators, had appointed chairmen and members co-ordination committees in every government department. He pointed out that huge expenditures are being incurred on the maintenance of their offices.
He also said a large number of vehicles have been handed over to them while facilities of free fuel, telephones, travelling allowances and refreshments have also been given.
