Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, who is on a visit to India in connection with 17th Commonwealth Law Conference in Hyderabad (Dakhan), spent a busy day there. According to a release issued here, Justice Chaudhry participated in patron chief justices meeting, which was attended by Chief Justices of other countries of Commonwealth. In this meeting many important professional issues related to functioning of judiciary and Commonwealth were discussed.
Former attorney general of India Soli Sohrab Jee called on Chief Justice of Pakistan and discussed issues of mutual interests. Chief Justice of India Justice S. H. Kapadia also called on Justice Chaudhry. Both chief justices discussed many issues of mutual interest.
Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry also participated in the reception dinner held in the honour of the delegation of Commonwealth countries attending the meeting. The formal opening of the conference is scheduled to be held on Sunday February 6, 2011.
Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will inaugurate the conference as chief guest. Chief Justice is scheduled to deliver a keynote address on the topic of, "Emerging Economies and the Rule of Law: Challenges and Opportunities".
