The Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) held a rally here on Saturday to express solidarity with the people of occupied Kashmir. The rally, which was led by JI Amir Syed Munawwar Hassan, started from Liaquat Bagh, Rawalpindi and culminated at Aabpara Chowk. Hundreds of JI workers carried placards, condemning the atrocities of Indian forces in occupied Kashmir.
The JI Amir, while addressing the rally, asked the Indian government stop its atrocities on the innocent Kashmiri people. "We will continue supporting the Kashmiri people until they attain their right to self-determination," he added.
He said that Pakistan should adopt proactive policies to resolve the Kashmir issue.
Munawwar Hassan said that Pakistani nation had always extended moral and diplomatic support to the Kashmiri brethren and raised voice in their favour at international fora and advocated their stance for the freedom of Kashmir.
He said the solution of Kashmir issue would bring prosperity to the people of entire region. He paid tribute to the valiant Kashmiri people for their resistance against the Indian brutalities and expressed the optimism that the issue would be resolved soon according to their aspirations. JI leader Amir Professor Khursheed Ahmed, JI Azad Jammu and Kashmir Amir Abdul Rashid Turabi, JI Rawalpindi chapter Amir Sajjad Ahmed Abbasi and JI Islamabad city amir Mian Aslam also attended the rally.
