Development fields: overseas Pakistanis, businessmen urged to make investment

Governor Punjab, Sardar Latif Khan Khosa has stressed upon overseas Pakistanis, settled in different countries, and business tycoons that they should invest in different fields of the country.
Addressing members of the business community and representatives of Sialkot International Airport on Saturday, here on Saturday, he said that due support of overseas Pakistanis and business community would pave way for bringing the country out of the economic crisis.
At this critical juncture, there is a great need of expanding tax net for generating revenue and ensure continuity of overall development process of the country, he said. He said that in order to save the economy, government decided to reduce ministries.
He said that government is fully aware of the problems being confronted by business community and assured that it would resolve problems of Sui gas and electricity load-shedding on priority basis to ensure smooth productivity and keep the wheel of the economy moving. Khosa observed that availability of Sui gas and electricity is vital for the industrial sector because the sector is playing an instrumental role in providing employment opportunities and strengthening national exchequer. He, on the occasion, assured that all channels and modes would be utilised for starting Sialkot-Dubai flights from Sialkot International Airport.
He said that at this juncture, unity among the political parties and people has become vital for the development of national economy. He called upon political parties to shun differences and forge unity in the larger national interest and sustainable development of the economy. He said that adequate efforts are being made for defusing political tension aimed at collectively resolving problems of the people and providing a strong footing to the country.
Regarding the Kashmir issue, governor Punjab urged United Nations to play its role in resolving it, as it is lying on the agenda of UNO for the past 62 years. He pointed out that 'champions' of human rights organisations have failed to take any step to stop brutalities and human rights violations in Indian held Kashmir.
Speaking on the occasion, Federal Minister for Women Development Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan said that there is a great need of collective efforts of all political forces for purging the menace of terrorism, unemployment, poverty and other social problems from the society. She said that government is making strenuous efforts for improving its economic polices. The menace of terrorism has reduced chances of foreign investment in the country. Dr Firdous further said government is making all out efforts for developing cordial relationship between employers and employees for smooth productivity in the country.
