Basmati and Irri 6 Sindh low type showed lowering trend, gur also followed suit, while yellow peas maintained firmness and other items follow ruling world trend, as traders warned supply will not be as easy, during the week ending on February 4.
Low business was marked on wholesale commodity markets, as few retailers turned up. Barley Sindh and Mardan was quoted at Rs 2600 and Rs 2650, wheat old with bardana was registered at Rs 2640, while new was marked unchanged at Rs 2655. On the rice side, Basmati 386 new low type shed Rs 100 to Rs 5400 and good type sharply down by Rs 300 to Rs 5500. Castorseed, Lasbela inferior type was put at Rs 2200, while the better type was down Rs 100 to Rs 2300, cotton cakes with bag in Sindh low type shed Rs 30 to Rs 1250, while the better type shed Rs 5 to Rs 1280.
On Jodia Bazaar chemical items (per kg) caustic soda flakes Saudia quoted at Rs 46, sodium sulphate rose by 50 paisa to Rs 15, NJ Taiwan shed Rs 9 to Rs 224, formic acid from Germany rose by Re 1 to Rs 105 and oxalic acid from China shed Rs 2 to Rs 64.
On Tuesday grain prices showed sustained rising trend. Yellow peas Canada rose by Rs 50 to Rs 3650 and Rs 3800, yellow peas dal Canada was marked at Rs 4050 and Rs 4200, yellow peas Ukrain marked at Rs 3550 and Rs 4200, yellow peas dal from Ukraine marked at Rs 4000 and Rs 4150. Bajra low type was higher by Rs 100 to Rs 2500, while better type was unchanged at Rs 2900, rapeseed cakes shed Rs 40 to Rs 900 and Rs 910.
On Wednesday, on the cereal side wheat old was quoted at Rs 2640 and Rs 2645, and new type quoted at Rs 2655 and Rs 2660. Gur low type shed Rs 100 to Rs 5400 and better type was unchanged at Rs 6200. On the rice side, Irri 6 Sindh drifted lower losing Rs 75 to Rs 3225, while better type lost Rs 50 to Rs 3275. Cotton cakes with bag in Sindh low type lost Rs 10 to Rs 1240, while better type was up Rs 5 to Rs 1285.
On Thursday yellow peas Canada sustained rise by Rs 100 to Rs 3750 and Rs 3900, yellow peas dal Canada up by Rs 150 to Rs 4200 and Rs 4350, yellow peas Ukraine rose by Rs 100 to Rs 3650 and Rs 3800, dal yellow peas Ukraine rose by Rs 100 to Rs 4100 and Rs 4250, gur depicted (low type) Rs 200 loss to Rs 5200, while the better type retained overnight level at Rs 6200, cotton seed cakes in Sindh with bag low type was unchanged at Rs 1240, while the better type rose by Rs 5 to Rs 1290.
On Jodia Bazaar kirana items (per 40 kg) mace backed away by Rs 5000, to Rs 92,000, nuting ended down by Rs 2000 to Rs 26,000, big cardamom rose by Rs 1000 to Rs 92000, cloves lost Rs 1000 to Rs 23,000, kalongey lost Rs 350 to Rs 9500, dry ginger China shed Rs 500 to Rs 15,000, sago lost Rs 50 to Rs 3100, star aniseed rose by Rs 100 to Rs 14,600 and darchini shed Rs 200 to Rs 6700.
On Friday no trading activity was seen on the wholesale grain and seed market, as almost all the market players were busy in preparations for Juma prayers ahead of long weekend due to Kashmir Day holiday on Saturday, grain and seed merchants groups' release said.
On Jodia Bazaar chemical items closed mixed. The changes were: PETROLEUM JELLY (Per kg): White Iran was quoted at Rs 45 and PVA Japan edged higher by Re 1 to Rs 242. RANGOLITE 'C' (Per pound): China moved downward by Rs 2 to Rs 82 and Germany was quoted at Rs 90. HYDROSULPHITE: China 88 percent finished lower by Rs 7 to Rs 74. ACETIC ACID: Taiwan went down by Rs 1.25 to Rs 78 and Korea moved downward by Rs 4 to Rs 74. HYDROGEN PEROXIDE: Descon 50 percent was quoted at Rs 66, Taiwan 35 percent edged up by Re 1 to Rs 60, Korean 5 percent moved upward by Rs 3 to Rs 66 and Thailand closed higher by Rs 2 to Rs 65.
