Lahore Electric Supply Company (Lesco) has intimated a five hour daily electricity load shedding schedule to the industrialists effective from February 7, 2011, Vice Chairman FPCCI textile committee, Faraz Alam told Business Recorder here on Sunday.
He said the Lesco area manger informed him that there would be a five-hour load shedding in the industrial area on Raiwind Road from 9:00am to 2:00pm from Monday, February 7, 2011.
Alam said Punjab industrial sector had already been crippled by discriminatory supply of gas by the government. "SNGPL is supplying gas for three days in a week only with low pressure whereas industrial units of Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are being supplied uninterrupted gas," he added.
He said out of 400 textile mills with 12 million spindles in the country, 250 textile mills are located in Punjab. "If 70percent industrial units of the country remain without gas for four days and there is a 5-hour daily load shedding, then how can Pakistan overcome its depressing economic woes," he asked.
