The Chief Justice of Lahore High Court, Justice Ijaz Ahmed Chaudhry, here on Monday sought replies from the federal and provincial governments in two petitions seeking records of a double murder accused and American national Raymond Davis and prosecuting him for forgery as well for obtaining visa under fake name.
The court handed over the copies of the petition to a deputy attorney general and an assistant advocate general with directions to get the reply from the government by February 17. The law officers assured the court of compliance of the order till next date when the court will be hearing several other petitions on the same subject pending in the court.
Petitioner Ilamud Din Ghazi, Advocate, contended in his petition that Interior Minister Rehman Malik had stated in Senate that he possessed complete record of Davis. The petitioner prayed the court to summon detailed record of his passport, weapon, recovered documents and foreign currency to determine the purpose of his arrival in Pakistan. Another petition by Barrister Iqbal Jafree to pass directions to government to prosecute Raymond Davis for committing forgery by applying visa under fake name. Jafree said Davis got visa under fake name which made the whole process of visa doubtful and his visa stood cancelled from the day one. He said Raymond Davis should be punished for killing and committing fraud.
