Justice Asif Saeed Khan Khosa, Judge of the Supreme Court, on Monday said that family disputes require proactive attitudes from lawyers and judges to solve children's problems. Delivering the inaugural address at Federal Judicial Academy (FJA) for the participant judges of family courts, he said that training and orientations are essential for the judges to enrich their information and knowledge about the management of family cases to ensure speedy disposal.
He further said that family court judges have a very important role to play and the responsibility for making decisions based on children welfare. "Management of family matters is more important than decisions and for that, it is essential for the judges to be more wise and well-versed with the socio-economic conditions in order to work expeditiously in a just manner, ensuring maximum welfare of the child and his custody", he said.
Apprising about the objective of family courts, he said, "family courts' main purpose is to assist smooth and effective disposal of cases relating to family matters such as marriage, divorce, alimony, child custody etc." Elaborating further, "You have to deal with matters where someone's heart is broken; matters you deal with are entirely different from criminal and civil matters."
