An Accountability Court here on Monday framed charges against former IGP and ex-commandant of Frontier Constabulary (FC), Malik Naveed Khan and two others in a reference related to illegal recruitment in the Frontier Constabulary.
The court presided over by judge Afsar Shah framed charges against former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police chief and two others including other accused - PSO-I Ghaniur Rahman Wazir and ATO Hamid Hassan in a reference related to illegal recruitments/appointments in FC. The court directed 12 official witnesses to appear in court on February 14, date for next hearing of the case.
The court also declared former district officer (DO) Frontier Constabulary Charsadda Muhammad Shoaib, as absconder in the case after he could not turn up before the court as presently he is abroad and performing duty with a UN mission. The official witnesses included NAB inquiry officer Mehmood Alam, DSP Mian Mizajuallh, FC senior clerk Haider Shah, NAB investigation officer Mohammad Gul and others.
Malik Naveed Khan and two other accused, PSO-I Ghaniur Rahman Wazir and ATO Hamid Hassan - appeared before the court amid tight security as policemen in large number were deployed at different points in the Judicial Complex where the accountability courts are situated.
The court was informed that the fourth accused, a former DO Frontier Constabulary Muhammad Shoaib, could not turn up before the court as presently he is abroad and performing duty with a UN mission. The NAB has charged Malik Naveed with carrying out illegal recruitment of over 700 persons in FC. Malik Naveed has contradicted the contents of the reference filed against him, stating that he had never overstepped his authority and was ready to face the court.
