There has been an uproar on the tragic incident of Lahore where an American national shot dead two Pakistanis. The suicide of wife of one of the killed persons, Faheem, has given a new twist to this grave matter.
But most worrisome of all is the increasing pressure from the American side on the matter, although the government has told Washington several times that the matter is sub judice and that it will be resolved in conformity with law.
Many aspects of the matter regarding Raymond Davis' identity and purpose of stay remain unanswered. The government must examine all these aspects strictly in accordance with law and refrain from freeing Davis on US pressure. If found guilty, Davis should face punishment. Also, details of all diplomats in the country are required to be properly ascertained with a view to avoiding such incidents in future.
