Judiciary in Iran is totally independent and has no clash with the executives while judicial system has gone a long way in the positive direction since the Islamic revolution in 1979. This was stated by Syed Mohamad Zakiri, Director General of Culture Centre, Consulate of Iran, Peshawar while talking about the reforms and improvements made by the Republic of Iran in judiciary and justice in the last 32 years in a lecture at Law College, University of Peshawar on Tuesday.
Zakiri said that all laws in Iran are based on Shariah and as per the constitution of the republic with a basic framework being derived from Rome-German type of judicial system. He further said that human rights laws are based on the social system of the country and in accordance with the Islamic guidelines, while international laws are also followed in the subjects of labour, international justice, commerce, and trade etc.
He highlighted that Iran offers best rights to women and they have access to almost all types of jobs and have grate contribution in country's development. A testimony to that is more than 10 women parliamentarians sitting in our parliament, while varsity enrolment shows 60:40 ratio of females versus males. This speaks for high involvement of women in the future machinery and state of affairs of the country, he maintained. The lecture was part of the weekly forum of the Law College and was attended by scores of students. Principal of the college, Professor Dr Adnan Sarwar Khan later presented shield to the visiting diplomat.
