Soyabean futures on the Chicago Board of Trade closed lower on Monday as professional traders rolled long positions from nearby contract months into deferred months as part of the Goldman roll, traders said. Grain prices had been higher early, led by wheat, but prices eroded later and sellers materialised in the last hour of pit trading as wheat fell from its earlier highs.
CBOT March soyabeans ended down 9 cents at $14.24-1/2 per bushel, while new-crop November was down 3 cents at $13.66. March soyameal ended down 80 cents at $382.40 per ton. March soyaoil down 0.57 cents at 58.41 cents per lb. Commodity funds were sellers of about 5,000 soyabean futures, and were net sellers of approximately 1,000 soyameal and 3,000 soyaoil, traders said. Volume in soyabean futures was estimated at 168,952, according to data provided by CME Group and in line with the 30-day average, according to Thomson Reuters data.
