Handsome recovery was seen in the value of the rupee versus dollar and euro on the currency market on Wednesday in process of trading, dealers said. The rupee moved up versus dollar gaining three paisa for buying and selling at 85.60 and 85.65, they said.
INTERBANK MARKET RATES: In the third Asian trade euro fell slightly on Wednesday after yet again failing to break through a key resistance level, helping lift dollar off a 3-1/2 month low against a basket of currencies. However, further declines for the common currency may be limited a day ahead of a European Central Bank meeting. Given that euro zone inflation is well above the ECB's target, markets expect the central bank may sharpen its anti-inflation rhetoric.
Indian rupee was trading at Rs 44.94 versus dollar, Malaysian ringgit available at 3.0400 in relation to dollar and Chinese yuan was at 6.5726 in terms of the greenback.
OPEN MARKET RATES: The rupee posted fresh gain of 20 paisa in relation to dollar for buying at 85.45 and it also rose by 15 paisa for selling at 85.65, they added. The rupee also appreciated in relation to euro, rising 45 paisa for buying and selling at Rs 117.50 and Rs 118.00, they said.

RUPEE IN LAHORE: The rupee remained unchanged against the US dollar amid low trading activity in the local currency market on Wednesday.
According to the currency dealers, there was no change in the dollar's demand and supply that helped rupee stability in the open market. The dollar was traded at overnight closing of Rs 85.50 and Rs 85.70 as its buying and selling rates, respectively, the dealers said.
Similarly, the rupee maintained its day earlier position and stayed unchanged in relation to the pound sterling. The pound commenced trading at its Tuesday closing of Rs 138.50 and Rs 139.00 on buying and selling sides, respectively. The pound witnessed marginal change in its value during the day's trading but finally ended at the opening level, the dealers added.
RUPEE IN ISLAMABAD AND RAWALPINDI: The dollar-rupee parity remained unchanged at the currency exchange establishments of Islamabad and Rawalpindi here on Wednesday.
The dollar opened at Rs 85.90 (buying) and Rs 86.20 (selling) against same last rate. It did not observe further change in the evening session and closed at Rs 85.90 (buying) and Rs 86.20 (selling).
Pound Sterling opened at Rs 136.35 (buying) and Rs 136.75 (selling) against same previous rate. It did not witness any change in the evening session and closed at Rs 136.35 (buying) and Rs 136.75 (selling).
