The Chief Justice Lahore High Court on Wednesday hearing a petition against recent increase in POL prices as "objection case" directed the petitioner to bring impugned notification and an application which the petitioner claimed to have filed with oil and gas regulatory authority (Ogra).
The chief justice, however, dismissed the petition with these directions to the petitioner Mateen-ul-Haq Chaudhry, an advocate. The petitioner submitted that the impugned notification regarding increase in POL prices issued by the federal government was unlawful and ineffective.
The petitioner said despite of pendency of a writ petition regarding increase of the oil, the oil and gas regulatory authority (Ogra) and the federal government were going to implement the impugned notification about increase in POL prices by approximately 9.9 percent. He said the matter was of great public importance and the court should take notice of this on priority basis. The petitioner, therefore, prayed that the respondents be directed to withdraw the impugned notification.
