The Jamaat e Islami chief, Syed Munawar Hasan, has said the US agencies were causing suicide attacks through hired people and the CIA and Black Water were involved in terrorism and subversive activities in the country. He has exhorted the army to stop military operation in the tribal areas and start action against the US agencies and the thousands of theirs terrorists.
He was addressing a huge JI rally at Multan Road protesting against the possible release and deportation of double-murderer Raymond Davis and to press for the arrest of Ibadur Rahman's killers. . Announcing that every government effort to free Raymond Davis would be foiled; Syed Munawar Hasan urged the masses to stand by the JI in order to get rid of cowardly and the US puppets ruling the country.
He told the protestors that the JI had set up a legal committee for the registration of a murder case against the US Consul General.
He said the federal and the Punjab governments were trying for immunity for Raymond Davis under the US pressure. He pointed out that under the Geneva Convention; only a limited immunity was available to the Embassy diplomatic staff in the federal capital. He said that under the rulers, diplomatic officials could neither carry arms nor travel out of the federal capital without informing the law enforcement agencies. Thus, there was no immunity for the Consulate staff posted outside the federal capital.
Addressing the rally, JI Secretary General, Liaquat Baloch, said the Punjab government and the police were dilly dallying in the arrest of the killers of Ibadur Rahman taking shelter in the US Consulate. However, he said, the JI would knock the door of the courts for providing justice to the aggrieved families and the culprits would never find a way out from this land. The JI Lahore chief, Amirul Azeem also spoke on the occasion.
