The National Textile University (NTU) Faisalabad will hold the first international conference on March 14 and 15 on the topic of "Value Addition and Innovation in Textiles" in collaboration with Marmara University, Istanbul (Turkey), University of Boltan and Manchester Metropolitan University (UK).
Rector, NTU, Dr Niaz Ahmed said here on Sunday that Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, has consented to inaugurate the conference on Monday, March 14.
Highlighting the main features of the conference, he said that the conference will discuss and disseminate the state-of-art knowledge in textile material, research and innovation. The conference will also provide platform to bring in front the cultural and conceptual issues that hinder contemporary textile research in various parts of the world.
Dr Niaz further said that more than 250 eminent textile porofessionals and researchers are expected to participate in this international conference including delegates from United Kingdom, Australia, France, China, Iran, Turkey, Sri Lanka and Pakistan. Prominent among those who will attend the conference and read technical papers include: Dr Mustafa Ozen, S Palamutcu, Merve Kucukali, Gulden Turban Metin Yuksek and Dr S Liker Mistik (Turkey) Dr Siamak Moradian (Iran) Yasir Nawab (France) Professor V E Jones, Dr Tahir Hussain and Muhammad Mohsin (UK) Dr Samundrika (Sri Lanka) Idrees Ahmed, Dr Tanveer Hussain, Dr Rashid Masood, M Farooq, Dr Irshad Hussain, Dr Umair and Owais Raza Siddiqaui (Pakistan).
He said that the recent development in fibres and polymers, advancements in yarn and fabric manufacturing, coloration and finishing, recent development in apparel manufacturing, development in textile machinery, modeling and simulation in textiles and productivity and quality management in textile manufacturing process will be the main topics of the conference.
Rector, further said that National Textile University is the leading national institution of the country, imparting quality education in various disciplines of textile since 1962. The graduates of the NTU are playing a pivotal role for the economic development of the country by rendering valuable services to the textile industry.
