Hard red winter wheat basis bids in the US Plains were steady to firmer on Monday as country wheat supplies were reported tight. New crop conditions remained poor in many key growing areas of the US Plains, though snow was forecast this week for some western areas. Gulf track wheat had no bid for March delivery while offers were at 45 cents over May futures for April and May delivery.
Protein premiums for railcar wheat to and through Kansas City were down 6 cents a bushel for 11.00 and 11.20 percent protein wheat, and up 4 cents for 11.80 percent protein wheat, and up 3 cents for 12.00 through 12.60-pro wheat supplies. Kansas City Board of Trade HRW wheat futures ended higher on Friday with the March up 9-3/4 cents at $9.18, and the May up 10-1/4 cents at $9.28-1/2.
