Brothers of Fahim and Ibad-Ur-Rahman, killed by Raymond Davis called on Chief, Jamaat-e-Islami, Syed Munawar Hasan at Mansoora, here on Thursday. Addressing a joint press conference after the meeting, Hasan said the Punjab government's failure in tracing the US Consulate vehicle coming for Raymond's assistance and taking in custody the four terrorists therein had created doubts in the minds of the general public especially the aggrieved families.
The masses, he said, were ready for a siege of the US Consulate while the federal as well as the Punjab governments were trying to bury the issue and were adopting delaying tactics to cool down the public for handing over Raymond to the US.
He said that the US President Obama had appealed for the killer Raymond's release thrice through radio, which should be a lesson for President Zardari. The JI chief stressed upon the masses to come on streets to arrest killers of Ibad-Ur-Rahman and Fahim to ensure Davis' conviction and against US highhandedness. He said that a team of senior JI lawyers was contesting the three cases.
Talking to the media, Sajjadur Rahman and Waseem, brothers of Ibadur Rahman and Fahim, protested against the government's efforts to delay justice and for giving VIP treatment to murderer Davis. They thanked the JI for supporting them in their difficult times. They rejected the US and government's all offers and reiterated their demand for Raymond's conviction.
Faizan's widow, in her telephonic talk on the occasion, also rejected blood money and demanded that Davis be hanged at the Qartaba Chowk where he had killed his late husband. Syed Munawar Hasan, donated Rs 0.3 million for the aggrieved families and also appealed to the nation to extend every possible support to them to solve their financial problems. JI deputy chief, Chaudhry Muhammad Aslam Saleemi, Maulana Abdul Malik and other JI leaders were also present.
