South Asia Partnership-Pakistan (SAP-PK) organised a seminar in commemoration of 100th international women day tilted "Farmer Women in the Post-Flood Situation" at Punjabi Complex Qaddafi Stadium, here Thursday.
Risham Adnan, co-ordinator Gender Desk gave welcome note to the participants and briefed about the objectives of the seminar. Shabnam Rashid from SAP-PK highlighting the importance of International Women Day voiced her concerns over the gaps in ongoing relief and rehabilitation programs. She demanded land reforms to provide economic space to flood victims.
Sajjida Mir, PPP member of provincial assembly criticised the reluctant attitude of the state towards flood affected people, especially women. She demanded issuance of NICs to flood affected people particularly women on an urgent basis in order to get them access to Watan Cards and Benazir Income Support program etc. Mussarat Latif Khosa, wife of governor Punjab, was of the view that government must take practical steps to educate people towards eliminating domestic violence.
