Chicago Board of Trade grain futures tumbled early on Friday on long liquidation amid global uncertainty following a massive earthquake in Japan, traders said. May wheat fell to its lowest level since early December, and May corn fell to a low not seen since Jan. 31.
At 9:41 a.m. CST (1541 GMT), May wheat was down 14 cents at $7.26-1/2, May corn was 12 cents lower at $6.70-3/4 and May soyabeans were down 23 cents at $13.32-1/2 cents, falling as low as $13.05, the lowest since Feb. 23.
