The Directorate of Archeology & Museums, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has devised plan for arranging free trips for Peshawarits to archaeological sites in three different districts of the province.
The free guided trip on motto "Opening the Doors of Archaeological Heritage of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa" would be carried out by the Directorate of Archeology & Museums, KP in collaboration with Sarhad Tourism Corporation, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa under its awareness campaign of historic sites and revival of Archaeological tourism in province.
The programme will be carried out in two months through which visiting different historic and ancient sites like Gor-Khturee, Takht Bhai, Hund etc, in district Peshawar, Mardan and Swabi, said Dr Abdul Samad, Consultant Directorate of Archeology & Museums, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
He said that the programme had designed for three categories including teenagers, families and senior citizens to arrange free trips for them to historic places of the province. The basic purpose of the guided tour was to create awareness, sense of ownership in community for cultural heritage and promotion of domestic archaeological tourism in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, he explained.
The free registration process will initiate by Monday 14 March, 2011 under certain terms and conditions, as the programme divided in three categories for people of different age, he maintained. "We will provide transportation facility to visit the historic archaeological sites in three districts including, Peshawar, Mardan, and Swabi under the guided programme", he added.
Dr Abdul Samad said that the free registration process would start by Monday, which could be carried out under the mentioned three categories. The aspirants would register themselves during office hours with him in director of Archaeological & Museums, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, he informed.
