The Karachi Port handled 212,241 tonnes of cargo including 131,610 tonnes of import cargo, 80,631 tonnes of export cargo and 3,955 loaded & empty containers during last 48 hours ended at 0700 hours on Monday.
The total import cargo of 131,610 tonnes comprised of 59,303 tonnes of containerised cargo; 771 tonnes of general cargo; 39,687 tonnes of bulk cargo: 33,500 tonnes of coal; 6,187 tonnes of rock phosphate and 31,849 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 80,631 tonnes comprised of 55,735 tonnes of containerised cargo; 725 tonnes of general cargo; 24,171 tonnes of bulk cargo: 3,768 tonnes of cement; 20,130 tonnes of wheat and 273 tonnes of rice. Twelve ships namely APL Guangzhou, APL Bresbane, MSC Anafi, Cardonia, Salis, Al-Mirqab, Abadeh, Hiba Al-Noor, Al-Jaber-18, Emperor, Royal Aqua and Gem of Dahej with six container ships, cement two general cargo ships, palm oil and chemicals sailed out to sea during the reported period.
Thirteen vessels viz Jasper Arrow, MSC Anafi, MOL Success, Al-Mirqab, APL Bresbane, Salis, Hyundai Freedom, YM Europe, Syria Star, Gem of Dahej, New Activity, Ginga Lanner and Maersk Producer carrying vehicles, seven container ships, rice and four oil tankers respectively are currently at the berths.
Four ships namely Ginga Lanner, MOL Success, Fatahur Rahman and Ocean Friend carrying chemicals, containers, wheat and coal respectively expected to sail on Monday, while three ships namely OEL Shreyas, Kota Akbar and New Activity with ESTL, containers and crude oil respectively are expected to sail on Tuesday. Five vessels viz Kota Akbar, OEL Shreyas, Thana Bhum, Shayan-1 and Al-Shuwaikh carrying four container ships and cattles respectively due to arrive on Monday, while three vessels viz Sorrelle, Allgote and Wan Hai-603 with chemicals, mogas and containers respectively are due to arrive on Tuesday.
The total import cargo of 45,414 tonnes includes 3,590 tonnes of diesel oil; 5,000 tonnes of palm oil; 4,200 tonnes of chemicals; 5,372 tonnes of urea; 3,835 tonnes of chemicals; 17,847 tonnes of iron ore and 9,045 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 18,762 tonnes includes 2,814 tonnes of wheat and 15,948 tonnes of containerised cargo.
Three ships namely CV CSAV Appinnini, MT Liaoning and MT Oslo sailed out to sea on Monday morning, while two more ships namely MT Siglo Hav and MV Ina Lotte are expected to sail on the same day. A total number of nine vessels viz CV CSAV Appinnini, CV MSC Oslo, MV Alfa Nourios, MV Saphire-II, MV Ina Lotte, MT Haina Golden, MT Liaoning, MT Siglo Hav and MT Al-Salam-II are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, cement, wheat, urea, chemicals, palm oil and diesel oil respectively during last 24 hours.
Seven ships namely Sound Future, Hyang Ro Bong, Akaki, MSC Rafila, NYK Kia, Quetta and Maersk Montana carrying rice, HSF oil and containers respectively are currently at the outer anchorage. A total number of three vessels viz Maersk Montana, Sound Future and Chembulk T scheduled to load/offload containers, rice and palm oil respectively are expected to take berths at Container Terminal, Grain & Fertiliser Terminal(FAP) and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Monday. Four ships namely CV Ibn Asakir, CV UASC Shuwaikh, CV Nedlloyd Hudson and MV Xing Hai are due to arrive on Tuesday.
