Upward trend was witnessed on the wholesales grain market on Monday due to tight supplies from upcountry centres, dealers said. On the cereal wheat old and new (Bardan) was up by Rs 100 to Rs 2800-2815 due to rising demand amid falling trend in supply, other items maintained overnight levels in process of trading, they said.
On the grams side, grams Australia gained Rs 100 to Rs 2800-5000, grams dal Australia rose by Rs 200 to Rs 5900-6100, grams 50x50 low type gained Rs 250 to Rs 5300 and best type followed the same pattern, picking up Rs 150 to Rs 5500, yellow peas Canada low type was higher by Rs 50 to Rs 3675 and good type was up by Rs 100 to Rs 3875, yellow peas dal Canada low type gained Rs 75 to Rs 4100 and superior type appreciated by 50 to Rs 4275, yellow peas Ukraine low type went up by Rs 50 to Rs 3575 and good type was higher by Rs 75 to Rs 3775 and yellow peas dal Ukraine low type posted a gain of Rs 125 to Rs 4050 and best type managed to gain Rs 100 to Rs 4225. Bajra low type inched up after picking up Rs 25 to Rs 2500 while the good type maintained the weekend level at Rs 2900, they said.
On the seed side, cottonseeds oilcake with bag Sindh inferior type was down by Rs 25 to Rs 1325 while the good type remained unchanged at Rs 1380, they said. On the rice sector, Irri-6 Sindh low type did not move any side at Rs 3300 while the good type showed an improvement of Rs 25 to Rs 3375, they added.
