Mobile penetration now nears the 100 Million Subscriber mark in Pakistan and this by far forms the most ubiquitous communication channel in the country. The staggering growth has come from a combination of a committed regulator, world-class cellular service providers and substantial investment in developing the mobile networks.
These mobile networks are highly reliable and reach out to all parts of the country and thereby bring to bear the landscape of Mobile Commerce or m-Commerce. As may be contrary to conventional thinking, mobile networks present an opportunity far greater and far wider than just voice communication. Beyond voice, enterprises can leverage the mobile networks to communicate with their employees. Enterprise systems can communicate directly with handsets being carried by employees working in remote areas so that they can receive information and process transactions whilst on the go. Mobile phones can be used to process consumer transactions at retail outlets or make remittances to friends and family, domestically or internationally. In fact, a vast array of opportunity presents itself in areas as diverse as banking, consumer services, government and many other sectors where mobile phones and networks can be deployed to achieve better services with greater efficiency.
AbacusConsulting, in recognition of this opportunity, has partnered with Sybase, an SAP company, to bring proven world class solutions which help organisations realise the potential offered by mobile commerce. AbacusConsulting is the leading consulting, technology and outsourcing firm in Pakistan with more than 2000 people across Pakistan and the Middle East region. Sybase is the globally leading m-Commerce solution provider and together, AbacusConsulting and Sybase offer an unparalleled team equipped with best-of-breed technology to help our clients in bringing to reality the most challenging of m-commerce visions.
