Fans book your tickets as the dream match between the Icon Sting and the Undertaker is about to become reality, as Stinger teased an in ring return for the match.

The WCW icon hasn't been in action since suffering a serious neck injury against Seth Rollins at WWE Night of Champions in September 2015.

The injury bought a premature end to a long-awaited but disappointing run in WWE for the 58-year-old, which sadly failed to live up to expectations.

Sting, 58, then announced his retirement from professional wrestling during his WWE Hall of Fame induction speech at WrestleMania 32 last year. The announcement ended the hopes of the dream match that fans had clamoured for over 25 years.

However, the WCW great chose not to undergo surgery to correct cervical spinal stenosis, which The Stinger said would definitively be the end of his career.

Meanwhile, the Dead man last competed in the main event of WrestleMania 33 in April, when he appeared to retire after losing to Roman Reigns. The 52-year-old performer left his hat, duster and gloves in the ring and then reportedly underwent hip replacement surgery in May.

However, the former world champ has since been confirmed to appear as part of Raw's 25th anniversary celebrations on January 22, 2018.

Sting has said he still holds hope for a match with The Undertaker, claiming that to be his 'unfinished business' in wrestling.

The Icon took part in a Q&A session while attending Wales Comic Con in Wrexham this past weekend, when he again reiterated this desire.

The 15-time world champion said, "I have never said ‘one more match’ ever. I’d like to have one more match, I’d like to have that Undertaker match. He revealed why he put off surgery as he still wanted to wrestle, adding, “The only reason I held off on the surgery is because I had guys like Stone Cold [Steve Austin] saying don’t do it."

The veteran also said that he did not suffer any side effects from not treating the degenerative condition and that it didn't bother him as he felt completely normal.
