Money can buy anything in Pakistan, be it wordly possessions or one's life or liberty. Any one doubting this maxim has only to see the charade of Raymond Davis' freedom!
In the farce, sacrilegiously called "Sharia-compliance" of 'Diyat', the murderer of two Pakistanis and cause of two other persons' death, aided and abetted by other US "diplomats" who have since left the country, has been released by the court - a judgement bound to cause much chagrin and heart-burn in this country.
Details about how much money was paid, and to whom are lacking, but one can only guess about the recipients! One also wonders why the original police and media reports about false identities, impersonation, carrying illegal arms, photographing sensitive areas, and other espionage activities, were not included in the charge-sheet, and ignored by the court, as well as the burning question of "diplomatic immunity" which the court was supposed to pronounce judgement on! Long live the lucre!
