Punjab Assembly on Wednesday sent 11 bills to committees for further deliberation. The bills tabled were:
The Punjab Local Government (Amendment) Bill 2011; The Punjab Laws (Amendment) Bill 2011; The Punjab Land Revenue (Amendment) Bill 2011; The Punjab Government of Proprietary Rights on Occupancy Tenants and Muqarraridars Bill 2011; The Injured Persons (Medical Aid)(Amendment) Bill 2011; The Powers of Attorney (Amendment) Bill 2011; The Punjab Administrator General's (Amendment) Bill 2011; The Specific Relief (Amendment) Bill 2011; The Official Trustees (Amendment) Bill 2011; The Defamation (Amendment) Bill 2011.
In the house, motion under Rule 244-A for amendment in the rules of procedures of the provincial assembly of Punjab 1997 was also passed. Punjab Law Minister, Rana Sanaullah replying to queries in the House said that there were 134,303 members of Punjab Government Servants Housing Foundation till present day. He said if a person failed to give instalments of the foundation in the scheme, his membership would not be cancelled and he would be eligible to have a plot in subsequent schemes of the foundation.
To a query he disclosed that presently appointment of PCS and CSP officers was being made under Inter Provincial Co-ordination Committee formula. Under this formula the appointment ratio of CSP officers in Punjab is: Grade 17 (25 percent); Grade 18(40 percent); Grade 19 (50 percent); Grade 20(60 percent); Grade 21(65 percent).
The minister answering a query said that there were nine posts of commissioners in the province. He said after completion of five-year service PMS employees become eligible of promotion. Earlier, Raja Riaz, Leader of Opposition speaking at the House said that elements were involved in fanning conflict of institutions in the country. He warned of repetition of 1985 events in the country.
He said despite order of higher courts, nothing had been done about people, who had been given shoulder promotions. Riaz said that despite money being given to NFC, salaries were not being paid there. He pointed that rooms were being allotted to lotas in 8 Club Road.
Sanaullah speaking in the house during the session implored upon the opposition to play a constructive role. He said elements of opposition and treasury both had contributed in struggle against authoritarian rule. Sanaullah said that CM Punjab would himself respond to any substantive assertion by the opposition.
Punjab Assembly again witnessed sloganeering on the issue of unification group during the day. PML-Q leader Chaudhry Zaheer-u-Din along with women legislators of his party staged protest against unification group members in the Assembly premises. The House was adjourned for Thursday (today) 10am by the chair.
