Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) police has arrested two imposters and presented them before judicial magistrate. The court sent them to jail till March 30.
Mohammad Ali alias Mannan and his accomplice Ishtiaq had reportedly been extorting money from customers for illegal use of electricity in Orangi area by falsely presenting themselves as KESC employees. They were arrested red handed on March 16 by KESC police while tampering the metre of a planted customer who had already reported the matter to KESC vigilance team.
Mohammad Ali was a sacked and outsourced employee of KESC who used to present a fake duty card and charge money from the customers for various methods of illegal use of electricity. He was also involved in making fake instalments of electricity bills. KESC's vigilance team had been following him after receiving several reports and finally on Wednesday, the vigilance team set a trap by planting a customer who invited Ali to bypass the metre and arrested both the accused them.-PR
