Even after high security alert and increasing number of check points, Islamabad Police have failed to bring any change in the situation and no decline was recorded in the street crime. Though the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Wajid Ali Durrani has evolved a strategy to curb car lifting in the Capital even then 17 vehicles and 12 motorcycles were stolen during the week.
The Police Spokesman said that due to successful strategy Capital Police succeeded in recovering two vehicles in two days. More than 125 incidents of street crimes including theft, robberies, purse, mobile and cash snatching and other crimes like car lifting, cheating drug pushing, bootlegging and gambling were reported.
The data Business Recorder has obtained from different sources and form 14 police stations revealed that over 125 crime incidents were reported during the week in the Capital in which people were deprived of valuables including cash, cars, motorcycles, gold ornaments, watches, cell-phones and other commodities, valuing over Rs 75 million.
Capital Police nabbed 105 outlaws including 15 women during the week for their alleged involvement in street crimes, bootlegging, drug pushing, dacoities, car snatching, robberies and other crimes. In operations against the suspected persons to ensure foolproof security over 250 persons were held.
People were deprived of 17 vehicles that included five Suzuki Mehran cars, two Suzuki Alto, one Suzuki Khyber, two Suzuki Vans, three Toyota Corollas, one Honda, two Charade, one Shahzore mini truck, besides twelve motorcycles were stolen during the week.Police recovered one Kalashnikove assault rifle, two repeater rifles and three 12-bore guns from the detained outlaws while 18 pistols (30-bore), two daggers and over 500 bullets of different caliber were also recovered. Islamabad Police during the week recovered 1.5 kilogram heroin, 4.5 kilogram charas and 120 bottles of wine. Police busted five gangs of criminals involved in arms and drug smuggling, bootlegging, robberies, car snatching, theft and prostitution.
