Advisor to the Chief Minister Punjab on Co-operatives Raja Ashfaq Sarwar has said that Punjab government is promoting micro finance sector so that deserving persons could achieve self-reliance and play their role in prosperity of the society.
He was addressing a function arranged by Shahzada Benevolent Trust at a local hotel, here on Sunday. Raja Ashfaq Sarwar said that micro financing is an important co-operative movement, which can change the destiny of the poor. He said that Orangi Pilot Project of Professor Akhtar Hameed in Pakistan and Grameen Bank in Bangladesh is shining example of transforming the lives of the people at the lowest level.
He said that educated youth should set up co-operative institutions in cities and villages for promoting self-employment as it would bring a positive change in the society. Chairman Shahzada Benevolent Trust, Shahid Pervaiz and Trustee Gulzaar Mir highlighted the aims and objectives of the trust. They informed that Karz-e-Hasna is provided in health, education and self-employment sector so that deserving persons could stand on their own feet.
