The Child Rights Legal Centre (CRLC) has launched its first ever online TV on Child Rights "childrights.tv", produced by the Centre for Creative Media. The first-ever TV channel will provide viewers exclusive access to selected quality productions as well as a platform for quick learning, sharing and discussing child rights issues in Pakistan, said a press release, here on Monday.
Child Rights Centre for Creative Media is the media arm of CRLC (www.crlc.info). It has also started a weekly series of "Meet the Expert". In this programme, child right experts will share their expertise and knowledge on the problems facing children in Pakistan. More than 70 productions including documentaries, songs, TV-shows, messages and animations are available on Child Rights TV web-portal on subjects such as child labour, health, education, juvenile justice, kidnapping, child participation, street children, discrimination, child trafficking, sexual abuse, birth registration, etc. The portal will be updated every week for the convenience of the readers/viewers.
"This is an exclusive portal dedicated to child rights issues in Pakistan. One of the objectives of this portal is to provide viewers and activists an easy access and quality productions on child rights. We would also like to promote the tremendous work done by our media channels and NGOs." Shared Kashif Mirza, Programme Head of Centre for Creative Media. This is the second initiative of CRLC after a successful launch of Child Rights Desk-Pakistan in March 2010, a web-based portal which carries child rights news and developments, updated on daily basis and receives 400 to 500 hits daily. The centre has also compiled case laws on child rights laws available on CRLC web-site crlc.info. The laws hold great importance in Pakistan's judicial system and this compilation will be useful for law students, practitioners and institutions working on legal reforms and cases relating to children.
"We remain committed to facilitate implementation of the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) in Pakistan and play our role in transforming national legal system in line with the international laws," said Qandeel Shujaat.
